Overcome fear and become more fulfilled!

Many of us over our lives experience challenges that range from the break down of relationships to the subtle impact of fear interfering with our enjoyment or the time we have with loved ones. As a coach, trainer and consultant the conversations I have with my clients often move beyond business… All of us have key relationships in our lives that are crucially important to our feelings of security, fulfillment and contentment. Many of my business clients have admitted to me over the years that they find more enjoyment during the week than they do at home at the weekend!…

Recruitment Success-Stop Guessing!

The science around recruitment success and ensuring a best fit candidate first time around is becoming ever more important. With pressure on training and development budgets, employers need to know as much as they can about each candidate in order that they find the best person for the role. What about motivation? Employers are able to identify skills and experience from the shortlisting process and can gain an understanding of a person’s personality from an interview or profiling tool, but, until recently, the understanding of what motivates and drives an individual to perform at work has largely been left to…

Investing in yourself is the best investment you can make

Investing in yourself isn’t always high on the agenda but it’s the single best investment you will ever make.. Eight years ago I was a middle manager is a mid-sized organisation and life was pretty good, I had a lovely girlfriend, a house we shared five minutes walk from work, I was involved with my local cricket team and golf club and work for the most part was enjoyable…Everything on the surface appeared to be going right and that’s what I kept telling myself but nagging doubts kept surfacing…Wasn’t there meant to be something more than this? I was grateful…

What we can all learn from Phil Collin’s!

I was away in Wales for half term (Aberdovey to be precise) an amazing place by the coast where mountains and the Sea collide! We were away with a big family group and hence my grip on the TV remote was not quite as secure and I found myself watching the Jonathan Ross show one evening… Not my typical fare however I found myself being drawn in to the interview with Phil Collin’s. The first thing that struck me was when he walked onto set with a walking stick. In my mind he was still actively drumming away In a…

If you could travel in time!

I was fortunate enough to be travelling back from Bali recently where I spent a fantastic couple of weeks on an entrepreneurial retreat…. On the plane on the way back I settled into watching a film which had the base premise of time travel. The men in the family had the ability to travel in time and age 21 the sons where told of this ability by their father… The film had the usual hi-jinks you could imagine with a young man suddenly finding he had the ability to re-live events and do things differently… As the film progressed things…

Greetings from Bali!

I am currently a week into an Entrepreneurial Retreat in Bali, and what an experience it has been so far… On a couple of mornings during this first week, when my eyes have been opened to new learnings, I have felt myself start to experience an old sense of urgency… More recently I have been living much more presently, mindfully and in the moment. So what had caused this shift in state that had taken me out of the moment as my mind wandered into the future? The answer? The very thing I came to the retreat for, knowledge which…

de-motivated workforce

De-motivated workforce?

Why do you think so little attention is paid to motivation within organizations? What could account for this neglect? From experience of using motivational maps in the work place we have found that the majority of people are not highly motivated. Motivational Maps has had over 20,000 Map profiles completed with hundreds of organizations and very few score in the higher motivation range. In many cases they are de-motivated and even at a crisis point. People need to work and their commitment to and engagement with their employer extends no further than the next pay cheque. This is not a…
