One of the many discoveries made in NLP is that people process the world around them by mostly one, or more primary senses and the Rep Test Online has a key part to play in uncovering how people represent the world.
You will have heard people say phrases such as, “I see what you mean” or “I need to touch base with you”. These are not just habitual phrases-they are an insight into how that person’s mind is working and a great clue for building rapport through the use of language.
The Representational Preference Test (REP test for short!) takes around 5 minutes to complete and enables you to identify, and be consciously aware of yours, and others, primary representational system.

Interpreting Your Results

Now you have your Representational system scores, let us explain a little more about what they mean and the specific use of language for each system. This information is really useful to support you in recognising the preferred communication of those you interact with and learning to adapt your language to achieve the greatest impact. It will also help you understand why you may struggle to engage with certain people

V: Visual

Often stand or sit with their heads and/or bodies erect, with their eyes up.
Will be breathing from the top of their lungs.
Often sit forward in their chair and may organise themselves through what they can see, lists, pictures etc.
Memorise by seeing pictures and are less distracted by noise.
Often have trouble remembering verbal instructions because their minds tend to wander.
Will be interested in how your program LOOKS

A: Auditory

People who are auditory will quite often move their eyes sideways.
Will breathe from the middle of their chest.
Typically talk to themselves and can be easily distracted by noise. (Some even move their lips when they talk to themselves)
Can repeat things back to you easily, they learn by listening, and usually like music and talking on the phone.
Memorise by listening, asking questions and talking through their thoughts.
Auditory people like to be TOLD how they’re doing and respond to a certain tone of voice or set of words.
They will be interested in what you have to say about your program and verbal communication with them is key.
Will use language from the auditory list.

K: Kinaesthetic

People who are kinaesthetic will typically be breathing from the bottom of their lungs, you will see their stomach go in and out when they breathe.
Often move and talk verrry sloooowly.
Respond to physical rewards and touching. They also stand closer to people than a visual person would like.
Memorise by doing or walking through something.
Will be interested in your program if it “feels right”, or if you can give them something they can grasp

Ad: Auditory Digital

Will spend a fair amount of time talking to themselves.
Will want to know if your program “makes sense”.
The auditory digital person can exhibit characteristics of the other major representational systems and they will often be logical, analytical and may ask lots of questions to seek clarification and understanding.
Need to be given more time to allow explanation of what is being done and why and for questions
